 Post subject: Primary Stat vs. Crit Chance.

Hi chaps,

I'm torn between two types of mod'. My primary stat is Cunning (Gunslinger) but I also try to keep up my Critical Chance.

I've got supplies of two mods - one has a cunning stat of 41 and no critical rating, the other has a cunning stat of 35 and a critical rating of 6.

So here's my question...should I max' out my cunning stat or go with the mod that increases both the things I'm looking at? Bear in mind that I'm looking at doing this across the board so the values should be multiplied by 8 (6 items of clothing, 2 guns).

Secondary stats (like crit) should only be stacked until you reach a certain amount because they have diminishing returns. Your main stat (cunning) does not so you can always keep stacking that one.

So yes, you want to get critical to a certain amount (if I remember right it's around 300) and completely ignoring it would be a mistake, but surge and accuracy (again to a certain amount) will be even more important for you.

I could explain more but you really should check this post, which explains everything to the tiniest details specifically for Gunslingers and even includes a spreadsheet to check what a certain stat increase will do for you exactly.

Wow, lots to read. Thanks for the reply.

At the moment my accuracy is at about 93% and my Critical Chance is a smidgeon over 30%. Not sure of the actual numeric values, I've only been looking at the percentages so I'll check that out. Haven't a clue what my Surge value is without looking.

Rightly or wrongly, I figured raising my Crit as high as possible would give me a better knockout chance, but I'm new to this sort of thing so I haven't been paying much attention to the other secondary stat's.

You've been doing the right thing mate. It all starts to come into play more now you're 50 and actually will reach the cap for diminishing returns. As far as accuracy goes I know that for Guardians the amount of it that is on the end-game gear gives a false impression of how important it is. The figures I've seen mentioned are to aim for about 95% (base ranged, not tech), anything over that and it's essentially wasted unless you're fighting a mega-defence-stacked Warrior in PvP.

So I've just replaced all my Mod's with the higher Cunning rated ones and my Critical rating (with Lucky Shots) applied is now 29.90%, only about 0.43% lower than before. The numerical value is 274.

If I activate my Relic, that goes up to 33.06% and a numerical value of 389! Nice.

I'll keep stacking my Cunning - I can use Enhancements to boost my Crit', but I'll bear in mind the comment above about it maxing out around 300. Looks like I'm nearly there.
