Seems that a guy has managed to get a DPS-meter up and running for 1.2 now :) So beware you slackers!

Seems that those people that aren't doing the EV(example) can watch the meter if they just know the "raid-key", so by-standers also can give bitch-slaps for those who are on the bottom on the list ;)

Looks very nice. I'm a bit concerned by the fact it runs over the net to a 3rd party DB though, I can't see that scaling at all if everyone using it writes & polls the central DB every 2 seconds. Not on the budget of a hobbyist Mod writer anyway.

He mentioned this in a post. And it seems that in a future patch he'll let people setup their own DB's.

EDIT:

Quote:
It is a DB online that I am hosting in the US. I'll be honest I'm a bit concerned about performance issues if a ton of people start using this, but that's part of why I want people testing it. Another thought I had was to expose the database connection preferences and allow you to set up and use your own DB (for people who may live too far or want control of their data). I may also be forced to limit it if I start running into server performance issues. I haven't had anyone outside the US test it, so I don't know what kind of latency you would encounter. Worst case, it may take a little longer to send/receive your updates, but I don't believe it would time out and fail.

Yeah, I read all that. I still think it's unfeasible:

For an 8-man raid it works out at 8 net requests a second if only the raid are using it.
Then you need to factor in the DB Reads & Writes associated with those 8 requests.
Then you have the archiving of all that data in real time.
If you have multiple raids going simultaneously that's all that work multiplied by the number of raids. It'll very quickly get to the point where you need a chunky machine & net connection.

Small guilds like us who know people like Grim might manage it :D, but the bigger the guild the bigger the overhead.

We've used it on a couple of raids and it looks handy. It only has data for those people who run it so the more who do the better.
